Why did I want to start Aurora Exquisite?
Firstly, I wanted to create a space where anyone could feel comfortable to talk about and purchase products that are still widely seen as taboo. We are still encouraged not to talk about these topics in public and hide toys away if people come to visit. I know, I have had both. But, why should we feel this way?
Secondly, I always said that I would not start a business unless I felt really strongly about what I was doing and what it could achieve; for myself and others. Until I met Damian, I really did think that this subject was still relatively taboo and shouldn’t be spoken about. Although I have always been open about sex and my personal exploits, I have often been condemned for it. He made me realise that sex and toys are a natural need in many peoples lives, it is just not spoken about openly. This is something that I would like to attempt to change. I have never understood why sex, an act at the very least humans need to procreate, is frowned upon. Why can’t we celebrate it? It has been celebrated in certain cultures since the dawn of time and it something natural and exciting to explore.
Finally, when I was at university completely my undergraduate degree in Psychology, I took a module in sexual health. It made me realise that sexual happiness and wellbeing is fundamental in creating a satisfying and exciting sex life. I have been interested in the history and culture of sex as well as exploring pleasure in a sexual context ever since.
Sex should be enjoyable, exciting and promote wellness in your life.
